SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (January 18, 2022)- The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series is set to kick off the 2022 racing season with a non-points event on Saturday January 29 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA as the tour will sanction the track’s 14th Annual Cabin Fever event.

The weekend will get underway on Friday January 28 with an open practice for all divisions at Boyd’s Speedway, with the pit area and general admission area opening at 3:00 p.m., while the track will be available for practice laps from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. For the open practice on Friday January 28, admission to the general admission area is free, while a pit pass will be $20, children ages 6-12 $5, and children ages 5 and under will be free.

The 14th Annual Cabin Fever race-day will take place on Saturday January 29 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series in a non-points event that will see Super Late Model competitors in a full program of practice, E-Z-GO time trials, Sunoco Race Fuels last chance heat races, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start 14th Annual Cabin Fever feature event. Other divisions in competition at Boyd’s Speedway for the 14th Annual Cabin Fever on Saturday January 29 will be the track’s 604 Crate Late Models ($2,000 to win), 602 Sportsman sponsored by Brown Haven Homes ($1,250 to win), SM4MA Pony sponsored by Circle K ($3,000 to win), Front Wheel Drives ($750 to win), B-Hobby ($750 to win), Beginner Sportsman ($150 to win), and the event will conclude with an Enduro that will pay $1,000 to win.

Activities at Boyd’s Speedway for the 14th Annual Cabin Fever presented by Circle K and Brown Haven Homes on Saturday January 29 will see the pit area open at 9:00 a.m. and the general admission area will open at 11:00 a.m. The driver’s meeting is set for Noon, with on-track activities getting underway at 1:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the 14th Annual Cabin Fever Race in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children ages 5 and under are free. A pit pass will be $40 for adults, $15 for children ages 6-12, and children ages 5 and under are free.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the racing program and will run under their rules and procedures. The Super Late Model tire rule will be as follows: Left Rear/Fronts-Hoosier 1350 or American Racer 48; Right Rear-Hoosier 1350, Hoosier 1600 or American Racer 48 or American Racer 56; (NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; no droop rule, new 2022 rules will not be in effect at this event). The same four tires will be allowed for qualifying and the last chance heats, two new rear tires will be allowed for the feature event. The entry fee is $100 and transponders for timing/scoring purposes will be available for rent from the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $50 tow money.

Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN is the defending champion of the Cabin Fever event, winning the 2021 edition of the race over Donald McIntosh, John Ownbey, Sam Seawright, and Booger Brooks. Jensen Ford of Johnson City, TN is the 2021 Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series champion.
