Dunn’s incredible 23rd to first victory in the event would solidify his place in the racing record books. May 6, 1983, in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd at his home track in St. Clairsville, Ohio, Dunn would capture his final racing victory.

The Jim Dunn started at Muskingum County Speedway in 1983 with Donnie Moran of Frazeysburg, Ohio picking up the Allstar Circuit of Champions-sanctioned event. The event stayed at Muskingum County through the 1989 season, then moved to Midway Speedway in Crooksville, Ohio from 1990-2014. The event went back to Muskingum County Speedway in 2015, then made a stint at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, W.V. in 2016. The event moved back to Midway Speedway for two seasons before coming back to its current home of Muskingum County Speedway in 2021. Donnie Moran is a seven-time winner of the prestigious event while his son Devin holds four event victories, second all-time.
