Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series Announces Fast Time Award in Memory of Dennis Selby

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (March 21, 2026)- Officials with the Battle of Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics are pleased to announce a fast-time award for all seven of the 2026 series events.

The “In Memory of Dennis Selby Fast Time Award” presented by Selby Motorsports will see the overall top qualifier at all 2026 Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics event earn $246 and a commemorative check for their efforts. The amount comes from the late Mr. Selby running the number 2 on an open wheel modified race car early in his career and the 46 comes from the family number used by Selby Motorsports. The announcement is also being made on the day of the late Mr. Selby’s birthday, as he would have turned 60 years of age today.

“Dennis loved the original Battle of the Bluegrass Series from back in the day and was all about what it meant and represented”, stated Eric Selby about the second-generation racer who was just recently inducted in the South-Central Kentucky Dirt Racing Hall of Fame. “When we saw the Battle of the Bluegrass was coming back, this was something the family wanted to do as a way to honor the memory of Dennis and remember the love he had for the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series”, added Selby.

“We are truly honored to have this nightly Fast Time Award for each of the BoB Series races. Dennis was a ‘racers racer’ that loved the sport and the old BoB Series, he’s still missed to this day by our racing community, and we can’t wait to honor him with this special award,” said Chris Tilley, Series Promoter. “I also want to thank the Selby Family for this incredible gift that gives back to the racers. It truly means a lot,” Tilley said again.

The Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics will open the seven-race campaign on Saturday May 30 at 191 Speedway in Campton, KY. The Swift Silver 40 will pay $5,000-to-win. Derek Fisher is the defending series winner at 191 Speedway and Colten Burdette is the defending series champion.
