Pre-Entry List for Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell Speedway Announced

TAZEWELL, TN (April 9, 2022)—Officials with the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series & Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series have announced the 20-pre-entered drivers for the Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell Speedway scheduled for April 16. Drivers who pre-entered a post marked entry by April 1 are eligible for the $2,100 Fast Time Award presented by Toyota Knoxville during the event.

The Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial was won by Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. last year as he took the $21,000 payday over Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Cal. and Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas. The Easter Weekend special event pays tribute to longtime dirt racing competitor Lil’ Bill Corum. He was the winner of more than 300 races and is a Hall of Fame Member at three different tracks. His career spanned from 1959 through 1989 throughout East-Tennessee and North Georgia while winning the first event at Knoxville Raceway, a two-time winner of the Tennessee Dirt Track Championship, and captured the NDRA’s Stroh’s 100 at Atomic Motor Speedway in 1981. Corum also competed in the only ARCA race that was held at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, finishing third in 1973. Corum collected track championships at 411 Motor Speedway, Atomic Motor Speedway, Tazewell Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, Ashway Speedway, Appalachian Speedway and Newport Speedway.

On April 16 at Tazewell Speedway, the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Models battles the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals competitors racing 75 laps for $21,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start boasting a purse of more than $64,000 for the 22-car starting field making it the largest event in Tazewell Speedway history. The event is open to any Super Late Model competitor, the pre-entries are for the drivers who are eligible for the Fast Qualifier money only. More entries are expected on race day.
