Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series at Portsmouth Raceway Park for Charlie Swartz Classic Saturday June 18

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 13, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Racing Northern Series will be back in action on Saturday June 18 at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for the 2nd Annual Charlie Swartz Classic, paying $5,000 to win and $450 to start. The event is part of the 5th Annual Dean Knittel Memorial that will pay $20,554 to win and will serve as the 2022 Ohio Sprint Speedweek finale for the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car tour.

The 2nd Annual Charlie Swartz Classic takes place at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH on Saturday June 18 and will see the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, B-Mains, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start 2nd Annual Charlie Swartz Classic. The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series will also be on hand at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday June 18 for the 5th Annual Dean Knittel Memorial that is the final event of the 2022 Tezos ASCoC Ohio Sprint Speedweek and will pay $20,554 to the winner. Both events on June 18 will be broadcast LIVE on FloRacing.

Activities at Portsmouth Raceway Park for the 2nd Annual Charlie Swartz Classic and 5th Annual Dean Knittel Memorial on Saturday June 18 will see the pit area open at 2:00 p.m., with the general admission area set to open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m., with green flag racing set for 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday June 18 in the general admission area will be $30 for adults (children ages 7-12 $10 and children ages 6 and under are free). A pit pass will be $40.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event on Saturday June 18 and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1300 anywhere on the car, 1425 as a right-rear option (if the series needs to do a tire rule limiting the number of tires per night it will, but as of now the series will not be limiting the number of tires for the series; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $50 tow money.

Josh Bocook of Wheelersburg, OH was the winner of the inaugural Charlie Swartz Classic at Portsmouth Raceway Park in 2021 as he would capture the victory over Kody Evans of Camden, OH, R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, OH, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY, and Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH.
