Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series to Sanction Ronnie Moran Memorial at Muskingum County Speedway May 31

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (May 16, 2025)—Officials with Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio and the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP have reached an agreed to sanction the Inaugural Ronnie Moran Memorial on Saturday May 31 as a non-points racing event.

The Ronnie Moran Memorial presented by Ohio Natural Energy Institute will pay tribute to the patriarch of one of Ohio’s most successful race tracks on May 31 that will feature a $5,000-to-win and $536-to-start Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man (UMP DIRTcar) Series-sanctioned 36-lap feature event followed by racing in the Modifieds ($2,000-to-win), Crate Late Models ($2,000-to-win), Mod Lites ($1,000-to-win) & Four Cylinders ($1,000-to-win).

Moran purchased the race track in 1980 and promoted the 4/10-mile track from 1992-2012 and now son Donnie & grandson Tristin and their families continue to promote. Mr. Moran, known as “Grandpa Poppy” passed away in December 2024 at the age of 87. The “36” represents the drilling rig model used by Mr. Moran in his business.

“It was an honor for us to say yes when asked if we could come help for this event,” stated Series Promoter Chris Tilley. “We have done business with the Moran family for many years now and they do a great job with running the track. We’ve had successful shows there in the past and we’re glad we could come back and honor the memory of the late Ronnie Moran on May 31,” Tilley went on to say.

The Super Late Model portion of the program will follow American Late Model Iron-Man Series rules & procedures and have UMP points awarded for drivers. There will be no entry fee for this event and the two highest drivers in the current series points who aren’t in the feature will receive provisional starting spots. The tire rule for this event will be Hoosier NLMT 2, 3 & 4 allowed anywhere on the car.
