Rain & Cold Temperatures Cancel American Late Model Iron-Man Series event at I-96 Speedway

LAKE ODESSA, MICHIGAN (May 22, 2025)—After soaking rains the last few days leading to soggy pits and below-average temperatures, officials have been forced to cancel the “Late Model Dirt Rumble” on Friday, May 23 at I-96 Speedway for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP. This will mark the fifth rainout this season on the tour. Officials with the track and series are looking at possible makeup dates.

“Promoter Larry Curtiss told me they’ve had excessive rain the last few days, plus you add in the water standing in the pits, zero sunshine forecasted and cold temperatures on top of it, it was the right thing to do to cancel,” stated Series Promoter Chris Tilley. “Its unfortunate but when you have below-average temperatures at the end of May with lots of rain, the facility cannot dry like it should to accommodate a big event. We appreciate him for trying to get the event in, and we’re hoping to find a suitable makeup date this season,” said Tilley.

The events on Saturday May 24 at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Mich. paying $5,000-to-win and Sunday May 25 at Crystal Motor (Mich.) Speedway paying $7,500-to-win are still on as scheduled for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series with better weather in the forecast for the remainder of the weekend.
