American Late Model Iron-Man Series
Atomic Speedway’s “Summer Sizzle” & Back to School Night Set for Saturday August 23
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (August 19, 2025)—The busy month for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP continues with the second visit of the season to Atomic Speedway in Waverly, Ohio for the 30-lap “Summer Sizzle” and Back to School Night paying $5,000-to-win and $500-to-start. The event will be co-sanctioned with the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series.
In the previous visit on May 10, Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky. claimed a $5,000 payday in a thrilling event over Colten Burdette, R.J. Conley, Seth Daniels & Rusty Schlenk. This event will be the 19th ever visit to the track located minutes south of Chillicothe, Ohio.
After an exciting Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial last Saturday at Richmond (Ky.) Raceway, Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio holds a 16-point margin over Colten Burdette of Parkersburg, W.V. in the championship standings for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series. Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio is third while Clint Keenan of Pataskala, Ohio is fourth and Rob Anderzack of Swanton, Ohio is fifth in the current top-five. Miles Cook II of Wheelersburg, Ohio sits sixth with Seth Daniels, Adam Stricker, Dusty Moore & Josh Rice completing the top-10 in the current standings.
On the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series, Derek Fisher of Olympia, Ky. holds a slim nine-point margin over Blake Creech of Richmond, Ind. heading into this Saturday at Atomic Speedway. Larry Martin Jr. of Maysville, Ky., Brad Rickels of Verona, Ky. & Daniel Shelton of Richmond, Ky. complete the current top-five in the standings with Kenneth Howell, Rusty Schlenk, Camaron Marlar, Justin Rattliff and Shannon Thornsberry completing the top-ten.
On Saturday August 23, the pits will open at 2:00 pm, the grandstands will open at 4:00 pm, the drivers meeting is scheduled for 5:00 pm and hot laps are slated for 5:30 pm with racing action to follow. The Sport Mods, IMCA RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars & Dirt Mini-Trucks will join the racing action. JD Enterprise and Atomic Speedway have posted a top-3 Steel Block Engine Bonus: 1. $500, 2. $300, 3. $200. Also Atomic Speedway is placing a $100 Long Haul Award for the Sport Mod division.
The tire rule for Atomic Speedway on August 23 will be: Fronts & Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2 & NLMT 3. Right Rear: NLMT 2, NLMT 3 & NLMT 4. The entry fee is $110 for this event and tow money is $75 for any car not making the field of 22.
