Cody Mahoney Sweeps Coal Miners Classic with Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series/Battle of the Bluegrass Series at Hidden Hollow Speedway

COLSON, KENTUCKY (September 12, 2025)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP would make its first ever appearance at Hidden Hollow Speedway in Colson, KY on Friday evening for the Coal Miners Classic and Cody Mahoney of Madison, IN would lead all forty laps of the event on the way to a $7,500 payday. Mahoney’s victory would make him the 15th different winner with the series in 2025. The event would be co-sanctioned with the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series presented by Slicker Graphics.

The win for the 38-year-old Mahoney would be his first career Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory and would make him the 177th different driver to win in series history. Mahoney, a second-generation driver, drives the Cody Mahoney Motorsports owned Rocket Chassis powered by a Mullins Race Engine and his entry is sponsored by P3 Racing Shirts, P3 Graphix, Jason Smith Transport, CSR Performance, FK Rod Ends, Keyser Manufacturing, Budda Bert Transmissions, and Penn Grade Oil.

Cody Mahoney would take the lead when the green flag was displayed to start the Coal Miners Classic Valvoline A-Main, with R.J. Conley, McKay Wenger, Rusty Schlenk, and Seth Daniels in pursuit. Schlenk would take third from Wenger on lap two, while Mahoney would quickly open a comfortable lead. The front five would remain the same, with Mahoney beginning to lap slower traffic on lap nine. Mahoney would maintain the lead, but would encounter heavy traffic by lap twelve, but would work his way through it nicely. The first caution of the event waved on lap sixteen when fifth place Daniels would slow on the backchute. The restart would see Mahoney maintain the race lead, with Schlenk getting by Conley for second, with Wenger and Colten Burdette fourth and fifth. Conley would retake second on lap seventeen, while Burdette would pressure Wenger for fourth and would take the position on lap eighteen. The caution would wave again on lap twenty-two when Daniels would slow with a flat right-rear entering turn one. Mahoney would again control the lead on the restart, while Schlenk worked by Conley again for second, followed by Burdette and Wenger. With Mahoney still leading, Schlenk and Conley would begin to battle for the runner-up spot, with Conley claiming second on lap twenty-three, only to have Schlenk reclaim the spot two circuits later on lap twenty-five. Burdette would pressure Conley and take the third position on lap twenty-six. Mahoney would again hold a comfortable lead, when the final caution would appear on lap thirty for Rob Anderzack, who slowed in turn one with a flat right-rear tire. The final restart would see Mahoney again maintain the lead, while Schlenk and Burdette would dog him for the lead, but Mahoney would control the pace of the event over the final few laps and score the victory, with Schlenk and Burdette completing the podium finishers, while Wenger and Brandon Fouts completed the top five. R.J. Conley would head up the second five, followed by 13th starting Derek Fisher, Rod Conley, Clint Keenan, and Seth Daniels.

The next event for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Late Model Series Fueled by VP will be on Saturday September 13 at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH for the 43rd Annual Jim Dunn Memorial, paying $10,000 to win.
