Mike Marlar Captures Championship Weekend Opening Contest at Atomic Speedway’s Night the Stars Come Out

WAVERLY, OHIO (October 24, 2025)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP opened its 2025 Championship Weekend at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, OH for the opening night of the Night the Stars Come Out weekend on Friday evening and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would lead all thirty laps of the main event and scored the $5,000 victory. With Marlar’s win, he became the 18th different feature winner with the series in 2025.

The win by the 47-year-old Marlar would be his first of the season with the tour and his fourth career Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP victory. Marlar would pilot the Ronnie Delk owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Cornett Race Engine and is sponsored by Delk Equipment, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Langenfelder Mechanical Contractors, Petroff Towing, Can-Am Auto Salvage, Paulson Rock Products, Stussy Construction, Marlar Trailer Sales, Jerry’s Siding/Roofing/Windows, ABC Supply Company, Capital Sign Company, Certainteed, Race Ranch, Longhorn Dynamics, VP Racing Fuels, Swift Springs, XS Power Batteries, and Midwest Sheet Metal.

Mike Marlar would take the lead at the start of the Valvoline A-Main, with Devin Moran, Josh Rice, Tripp Gerrald, and R.J. Conley giving chase. Rice would work past Moran for second on lap three and the front five would remain the same until the first caution of the event waved on lap seven for a turn two tangle that involved Clint Keenan and Michael Lake. The restart would see Marlar maintain the lead, with Moran retaking second from Rice, while Conley would take fourth from Gerrald. Marlar and Moran would put a bit of distance back to Rice, with Moran beginning to challenge Marlar for the top spot on lap eleven and would actually pass Marlar in turn two on lap thirteen, with Marlar getting back around Moran in turn three. However, the caution would wave for Clint Keenan, who had spun on the frontchute. The restart would not see a lap completed as Tyler Carpenter would slide over the turn two banking to cancel the restart. Marlar would maintain the lead again on the restart, with Moran and Rice holding second and third, with Colten Burdette taking the fourth position from Conley. Marlar would open up an almost two second advantage over Moran by the time he caught slower traffic on lap twenty-two. With five laps remaining, Moran would begin to mount charge and would close to within a half-second of Marlar, however, Marlar would not be headed and scored the victory over Moran, Rice, Burdette, and R.J. Conley. The remainder of the top ten finishers were Seth Daniels, Tripp Gerrald, Rod Conley, Lincoln Smith, and Jason Jameson.

The next event for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Late Model Series Fueled by VP will be the tour’s 2025 season ending event at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, OH on Saturday October 25 for The Night the Stars Come Out weekend finale, paying $15,000 to win and $750 to start.
