Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Back to Atomic Speedway for Mother’s Day Shootout May 9th
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (May 6, 2026)—After a successful second round at West Virginia Motor Speedway on May 3, a quick turnaround awaits the drivers of the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series fueled by VP. The “Mother’s Day Shootout” brings the tour back to Atomic Speedway near Waverly, Ohio for the second visit of the season paying $5,000-to-win and $500-to-start the 30-lap feature event.
This will be the first event of the Valvoline Weekend Allstars tour which is a 10-race mini tour that pays ten spots to the final point drivers. The schedule is May 9 at Atomic, May 16 at Muskingum Co., June 26 at Limaland, June 27 at Skyline, July 31 at Ponderosa, August 1 at Rockcastle, August 14 & 15 at Millstream (2 events), October 3 at Mudlick Valley & October 24 at Montpelier. The top 10 Valvoline Weekend Allstars final year-end payoff is: 1. $2,000, 2. $1,000, 3. $800, 4. $700, 5. $500, 6. $250, 7-10th $200.
In addition to the Valvoline Late Models, the Gladiator Sprint Tour 410’s and Sport Mods will join in the action for the evening. The pit gates will open at 2:00 pm, the drivers meeting is slated for 5:30 pm with Hot Laps to follow at 6:00 pm.
Caiden Black of New Concord, Ohio and Drake Troutman of Hyndman, Penn. have been victorious so far this season at Atomic Speedway and West Virginia Motor Speedway respectively. The defending winner of the Mother’s Day Shootout is Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky.
R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio is the new point leader of the series with a one-point lead over brother Rod Conley who is tied with Caiden Black for second position. Todd Brennan is tied with Justin Cooper for fourth. Colten Burdette, Miles Cook II, Seth Daniels, Travis Carr complete the top 10 in current points. In the JD Enterprise Steel Block Series points, Miles Cook II leads Travis Carr with a nine-point margin. Zach Milbee is third in those separate point standings.
The tire rule for Atomic Speedway on April 11 will be Fronts & Left Rear: Hoosier NLMT 2 & NLMT 3. Right Rear: NLMT 3 & NLMT 4. The entry fee is $50 for this event and tow money is $75 for any car not making the field of 22.
